UAB’s Sirad Bryant Suspended One Game For Conduct During Tennessee Game

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - September 22, 2025

UAB safety Sirad Bryant will miss the team’s game against Army on Oct. 4 at Protective Stadium. Bryant, a redshirt senior, will miss the game after stomping on Tennessee kicker Max Gilbert right foot following a first quarter extra point in last Saturday’s 56-24 loss to the Volunteers. Bryant was called for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play but stayed in the game the rest of the way.

UAB head coach Trent Dilfer made the announcement on Monday night during his weekly appearance on Blazer Sportsline from Learfield.

“It’s been well publicized the mistake he made Saturday,” Dilfer said. “He’s made a formal apology. I met with him about an hour and a half ago. He is broken hearted. He realizes he made a mistake (and) is willing to take the consequences of his poor decision making. As he said to me, he allowed outside circumstances to affect his choices. He knows he’s wrong for that and there will be consequences for that.”

The consequence will come against an Army team that is 1-2 heading into this weekend’s American Conference matchup with East Carolina. UAB has its first bye week of the season on Saturday.

“He won’t play in the next game,” Dilfer said. “He’ll still be a full member of our team. We love Sirad. Sirad is a great kid (and) a very big part of our team. He’ll still help us try to go win against Army, he just won’t be on the field. I just want you to know how broken hearted he is. He felt like he let down Blazer Nation, he let down his teammates, he let down himself. But I also told him it’s in the past. All you can do is ask for forgiveness, move on and make better decisions next time. We’ll support him, lock arms and love him through this.”
