BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - April 25, 2026

The UAB baseball team won eight games this season on the Blazers final at-bat of the game. The latest walk-off victory came on Friday when solo home runs in the 11th inning by Austin Pierzynski and Kevin Hall Jr. lifted the Blazers to a wild 7-6 victory over Memphis at Young Memorial Field in  game that opened up a three-game American Conference series.

Memphis carried a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the 11th after getting an RBI single by Javon Hernandez in the top of the inning. Pierzynski came to the plate with one out and battled his way through a 10-pitch at bat. He fouled off four pitches with the count at 2 balls and 2 strikes before hitting the ball over the left field wall to tie the game. Hall came up with two outs and deposited the third pitch he saw over the fence in right field to give UAB its latest walk-off win. It was the second home run of the game for both Hall and Pierzynski.

The series continues on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Young Memorial Field and closes with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday. UAB (27-15 overall, 11-5 American) remains in a first place tie with UTSA (28-13 overall, 11-5 American) in the American Conference standings.

Before they move forward, let’s look back at the other seven final at-bat victories this season.
