Andy Kennedy Misses Tulsa Trip Due to Illness

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - February 11, 2026

UAB head coach Andy Kennedy won’t be on the sideline on Wednesday night when his team attempts to extend its American Conference road winning streak to six games against one of the teams sharing the conference lead.

An illness kept Kennedy from traveling with the team on Tuesday and UAB associate head coach Ryan Cross will take over the head coaching spot on Wednesday at Tulsa in a game that will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Reynolds Center.

Kennedy wasn’t feeling well during Sunday’s game but still coached during the Blazers victory over Rice at Bartow Arena. He was unable to attend a scheduled appearance at the Birmingham Tip-off Club on Monday morning and also missed his weekly Blazer Sportsline visit with David Crane later that evening.

The Blazers (15-9 overall, 6-5 American Conference) will attempt to find a way to beat a Tulsa team that beat UAB, 99-77, on Jan. 18 at Bartow Arena. The Blazers have won five consecutive American Conference road games. Tulsa, which is 20-4 overall and shares the conference lead with South Florida at 8-3 in league play, is 10-1 at home this season.
