Birmingham Squadron Host Four Key Upcoming Games at Legacy Arena

By Jesse Kelley

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - January 17, 2025

The Birmingham Squadron will host 205 Night on January 17 against the Motor City Cruise, MLK Jr. Celebration on January 19 against the Greensboro Swarm, Cancer Awareness Fight Night on January 22 against the Cleveland Charge, and Epilepsy Awareness Night on January 24, also against Cleveland. All of these games will be played at Legacy Arena, and tickets can be purchased for as low as $15 by calling the Squadron ticket office at (205) 719-0850. “We are going to have special guest appearances at our first game promotion on Saturday,” said Leslie Claybrook, General Manager of Business Operations for the Birmingham Squadron. “James Spann, Blake Sims, Cole Cubelic, Lauren Sisler, and a few other local celebrities. There is a plan for all of our special guests to meet with the fans on the concourse level during Saturday’s game.”

Birmingham will square off against the Motor City Cruise on Saturday evening. The Cruise and Squadron will meet for the second time in as many games, as Motor City defeated Birmingham, 109-94, on Thursday. “205 Night is a special night for us at the Squadron,” said Claybrook. “It is really cool that all of these local celebrities want to come out and celebrate 205 Night with us. Giving back to the community in a meaningful way is so beneficial for us as an organization. The fact that they want to be involved in our game and continue to grow it in Birmingham is special, all while getting to watch these young men chase their dreams while playing basketball at an extremely high level.” Morris Bart Personal Injury Lawyers is the presenting sponsor of this event, and they will be giving away complimentary t-shirts and hats. The first 205 fans will receive a free bag of popcorn.

The Squadron’s next themed game will be on MLK Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, at 1 p.m. “Given that Birmingham was the heart of the Civil Rights movement, it’s always meaningful for us to celebrate and honor those who sacrificed so much for equality in our city, state, country, and world,” said Claybrook. “During quarter-breaks and during halftime, we will be doing a few vignettes on Dr. King, about his life and story.” Fans in attendance on Monday’s game will also have the opportunity to donate to Pathways: Women and Children’s Shelter in Birmingham. “Fans will have the chance to help put together 'Blessing Bags' for our friends at Pathways to help women and children in need in our area. Pathways will have a designated area at the game on Monday to talk with fans about their mission and tell their story of helping women and children in Birmingham who are in need.” Monday’s game will tip off at 1 p.m., giving local families with younger children the opportunity to attend a professional basketball game on a national holiday without being up extremely late. “We are trying to make sure we get some school kids in the building and get the community involved. I know that there is always a huge community service day on MLK Jr. Day, so we are hoping that once they all finish up with their community service, they’ll come down and watch our game.”

The third themed-game will be Cancer Awareness Fight Night on the 22nd against Cleveland at 7 p.m. “We will recognize cancer survivors and patients throughout the night,” said Claybrook. “This night hopes to continue to bring awareness to all the different forms of cancer that people are fighting, and a chance for us to knock it out.” The fourth promotion during this four-game stretch for the Squadron will be Epilepsy Awareness Night on the 24th. Epilepsy awareness looks to educate the public, promote understanding, and encourage support for individuals living with Epilepsy. Epilepsy affects 1 in 26 people, and 54,000 Alabamians are living with this condition. “Epilepsy is out there and prevalent,” said Claybrook. “The Epilepsy Foundation here in Birmingham supports those who have been diagnosed with Epilepsy. A special ticket package is available for the game on the 24th. When purchased, a donation will be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, and we will also auction off Squadron jerseys to raise money for Epilepsy awareness.” Purple is the color for Epilepsy awareness, and the Squadron will be wearing a special jersey designed by Garrett Harrelson, a young man diagnosed with Epilepsy. “We will be wearing a brand new uniform on this night that was designed by Garrett,” said Claybrook. “We are going to be able to bring awareness and celebrate him.”

Single-game tickets for the remainder of the Birmingham Squadron’s 2025-26 season are available at the link here and are $15 a piece for general admission. Fans can also purchase tickets without any fees by calling the ticket office at (205) 719-0850. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Legacy Arena ticket office upon arrival.
